Vegetables to add:
Spices:
- green beans(long cut) - 1/2 cup
- green peas - 1/4 cup
- Carrots (cut) - 1/2 cup
- Potato(optional) - 1 medium sized
- green chillies - 2
- Mint(pudina) leaves - 1 and 1/2 cups
Basmati rice - 2 cups dry Salt to taste
- Cinnamon sticks - 1
- Cloves - 5-6
- Bay leaves - 2-3
- shahjeera(Black Cumins)- 2 tsp
Preparation:
Cut the required vegetables and keep it aside. Heat the oil in the pan and add cumin(jeera). Once they are spluttered add the cut vegetables. Saute them.
Grind pudina, green chillies,all the above mentioned spices with little qty of water. Add this paste to the pan while the vegetables are being sauteed.
Now add basmati rice(washed) and mix it well and pour 3 and 1/4 cups of water and allow it to cook. If you have electric rice cooker then transfer the whole contents of the pan into the electric rice cooker and allow it to cook.
Serve it with raita.
