Bengal gram flour (Besan) -1 cup
Rice flour -1/2 cup
Salt - as required
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Baking Soda - a pinch.
Preparation:
1. Prepare a thick batter by mixing Bengal gram flour (Besan), salt, red chilli powder and soda. Mix well by adding enough water and keep aside.
2. Peel outer skin from cooked potatoes. Mash the potatoes well when it is still warm . mix cooked green peas, minced green chillies, salt and coriander leaves.
Add minced ginger. Put this mixture aside. Take a small pan and add 1 tsp of oil and add mustard seeds. After they are popped, add turmeric and a pinch of hing. Now, add the mashed potato mixture and mix well in the low flame. Finally you can add a tbsp of fresh lemon juice.
3. Make lemon sized balls from the prepared potato mixture and dip it in the prepared besan batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden color. Serve hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
