Sift the flour and baking powder. Mix the flour, baking powder. Add 1 tbsp of oil(ghee) and mix gently. Then add some more oil, a tbsp of yogurt and mix well. Add water to make it to a soft pliable dough. Immediately make balls and flatten it lightly. Then with your thumb and index finger press in the center such that the center part is thinner than the edges.
Take a banale(frying pan) and put oil in that. Keep it on a low flame. Drop the maida pattis gently in the oil. Allow them to boil in the oil for about 15 min on the low flame only. Once they are golden brown, remove them with a slotted spoon and put it in a sugar syrup and immediately remove it and place it on a separate dish.
To make sugar syrup: take equal portions of sugar and water and allow it to boil for 15 min. It should be semi-thick in consistency. To test if the syrup is ready or not take a spoon of syrup and put it in a glass of water. If the syrup settles at the bottom, then it is ready.
